The Water Mill Museum, Water Mill, New York, site of
the first |
|
| The story of this water mill began in 1640 when a group of English colonists came to Southampton. The mill was built in 1644. It has been used for many purposes throughout its history and since 1968 has been restored as a museum. Lucille Berrill Paulsen, former CLWAC president and Water Mill Museum board member, was the spirit and driving force behind the idea of an exhibition for club members and for club associates as well. Not only was it the first time CLWAC held an exhibition at the Water Mill Museum, it was also the first time that associate members were invited to show alongside full members. The juried show ran for five weeks from June 15th to July 23rd with a buffet-brunch reception on June 25th. More than 80 artists were represented from as near as the east end of Long Island and as far away as California. |
