| Our club mission to provide opportunities
for, and to promote the work of, our
professional artist members, is specifically addressed by our annual Members’
Exhibition. Once again this year’s show was held in the heart of
Soho at the Broome Street Gallery for three weeks from March 27 through
April 13. Over 80 members from across the country exhibited work in sculpture,
oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, graphite, mixed-media, pen
and ink, and graphics. All pieces were received, and shown off to their
full advantage by the masterly hanging and coordinating talents of Lucille
Berrill Paulsen, Nissan Gallant, Okki Wang, Eleanor Meier, Jeanette Dick,
Priscilla Heep and Elaine Gaskell and many other volunteers. A steady
stream visited the gallery during those three weeks, and were greeted
by professional gallery sitters who guided our viewers through the gallery
with enthusiasm and expertise. Five works were sold. |

Twelve awards were presented at a cheese and
wine reception on opening day. CLWAC president Joyce Zeller and chairwoman
Lucille Schur
handed out the awards. The three judges, all previous Horse’s Head
winners themselves, voted the Anna Hyatt Huntington Bronze Horse’s
Head award for Best Painting to Elizabeth Torack for her oil titled “Sunday
Morning.”
Chairwoman Lucille Schur wishes to thank all the artists, volunteers,
gallery sitters, gallery officials, and the visitors who helped make the
2008 Members’ Exhibition another wonderful success. |
