Ruth B. Reiber
2005 Honored Member

The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club takes great pleasure in naming Ruth B. Rieber as this year's Honored Member, recognizing her achievement as an accomplished printmaker and painter and an important member of our Club. Ruth started drawing at four with encouragement and crayons her mother gave her, and her enthusiasm for her work has never diminished. She paints and makes prints, sometimes working four to five hours a day. Her paintings are abstract geometric shapes, and her etchings and relief prints generally show city scenes.

Ruth was educated in New York City, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Fine Arts and Art Education from New York University and a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from Columbia University. She also studied at the New School for Social Research, the Art Students League and Pratt Graphics and won a fellowship from the Grace Dodge Foundation at the Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, VT.

Among the collections that display her work are those of the New Jersey State Council of the Arts; the State of New Jersey Treasury Department; the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum, Rutgers University, NJ; the Jersey City Library, William Paterson University and the Trenton State College. Her many honors include the Graphic Award of Merit in the National Academy of Design's Annual Exhibition, four Graphic Awards from the National Association of Women Artists, the Westinghouse Electric Corporation's Purchase Award, the Dean's Choice of the New Jersey State National Print Exhibit, and Best in Show at the Printmaking Council of Editions Unbound.
