Elaine’s
sculpture is mostly figurative. Although she is best known for her portrait
busts worked in clay or wax and cast in bronze, she has also carved in
marble, other stones, wood, and bas relief in slate. She makes her own
molds and casts, and works in a variety of experimental materials. Her
jewelry designs are cast in silver, bronze and gold. While Elaine’s
work is mainly sculpture, in the past several years she has revived an
interest in watercolor landscapes, attending travel workshops and exhibiting
in group shows in New York City, Long Island, and Westchester. |

Her work has been shown in
exhibitions throughout the East Coast, including several solo exhibits,
a variety of juried and invitational shows in New York City, Rhode Island
and Long Island. These include the National Academy of Design, Parrish
Art Museum, Heckscher Museum, SculptureCenter Gallery, Wheeler Gallery, Elaine is represented in over 50 private and corporate collections across the country, including the Duke University Medical Center; the Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance; Southampton Hospital; Nelia Barletta de Cates, Cultural Attaché of the Dominican Republic to the United Kingdom; and Gloria Vanderbilt and the late Wyatt Cooper. |

Elaine has received awards from a variety of organizations, including the Allied Artists of America, the Carnegie Institute, and the Parrish Art Museum. From CLWAC, she has won the Anna Hyatt Huntington Horse’s Head for best sculpture, a first prize for sculpture, and the Creative Hands Award. Elaine has been a CLWAC member since 1981 and on the board since 1997. She has served as catalog co-chair, second vice president for sculpture, first vice president and exhibition chair, and as a selection jury member. She now keeps the Club’s membership data records. In addition, she served on the Board of Trustees at the SculptureCenter for 15 years. |
