The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club is proud to announce the 2011 honored artist is Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso, one of the most compelling realist artists of this generation. The focus and passion of her painting is devoted to depicting women as muse, artist, Gabriela is a native New Yorker, who grew up in Astoria, Queens. Her family tree includes both painters and poets. She was exposed to art at an early age with weekly trips to The Metropolitan Museum under the tutelage of her father. In middle school she received an award from Pepsi Cola for being an outstanding art student. She earned her BFA from the School of Visual Arts after studying psychology at NYU,with further study in drawing and painting at the Art Students League with instructors Richard Pionk, Gregg Kreutz, and Harvey Dinnerstein. She also studied at the National Academy School of Fine Art where she currently teaches classes on figure drawing and composition. Before focusing exclusively on painting the portrait and figure, she worked as an illustrator for several years continuing to hone |

Her first one-woman exhibition took place in 2006 at the Butler Institute of Fine Art in Youngstown, Ohio. Her paintings have been shown widely in other prestigious museums and juried shows, The Allentown Art Museum, the Arnot Art Museum, Elmira, NY, Trenton City Museum, Katonah Museum of Art, Pastel Society, Allied Artists, Art Students League and many others. Art publications continue to feature her work individually or with other notable artists. Fine Art Connoisseur, the Artists Magazine, Pastel Journal, Spectrum all recognize her stature. Seeing Gabriela’s paintings is like taking a trip through the pages of an art history text, noting her ability to integrate different periods into her work. Gabriela pays homage to earlier artists who have paved the way. In these portraits she has captured depths which transcend time and place. Painters honored in this series are Gretchen Rogers, Angelica Kauffman, Artemesia Gentileschi, Mary Cassatt, and Elizabeth Vigee Lebrun. In all these portraits the eyes speak of the soul and inner strength that drove these artists. |

Current works are large and multi-figured harkening back to historical and religious paintings of the masters, her’s continue to intrigue in their search for love, hard work, honesty and vision.
