| Joyce Zeller’s aim as an artist is to paint a beautiful painting while capturing the spirit and personality of her subject, whether it is a person, animal or landscape. In her portraits of people she manages to portray their likeness while searching for their inner beauty. She looks for that connection between the subject and the viewer. A painted portrait is a way of connecting one generation to another. Her landscapes are more an attempt to capture the essence of a place rather than an exact duplication of it. As far back as she can remember she has always been attracted to drawing people and has recently become in love with landscape painting. Joyce works in different types of drawing mediums, pastel and oil, depending on the subject and the feeling she wants to portray. She has had one solo show, has been accepted into many juried exhibitions in and around the New York Metropolitan area and has won numerous awards. Among them is the Thora M Jensen Memorial Portrait Award given at the Salmagundi Club and The Katherine A Lovell Award. Joyce has had many prestigious portrait commissions including various federal court judges, physicians and attorneys. Her latest commission of the 81st US Attorney General will be hanging in the Justice Department in Washington DC.
