The main focus of my work is what is around me.  I am involved with horses and therefore all things equine interest me.  I have had a lifelong love for all animals, volunteering as a docent and in the neo-natal team at the North Carolina Zoological Park near my home.  Each animal species has its own particular features and each piece is a tremendous learning experience.  I try to be true to the animal and at the same time bring out its individuality by taking it a step beyond a realistic interpretation.

From the first time I saw bronzes up close, as a young girl, at the Minneapolis Institute of Art I've been totally captivated by the reality of three-dimensional sculpture. Sculpture is a medium that constantly changes with a changing point of view, a surface of bronze has a reflective quality and the angle of light dramatically changes perception.  I also paint, but when I work in three dimensions I look at things with so much more intensity.  Creating sculpture is very thought involved and emotional, but also physical.  I am constantly striving to improve my work.
