Born in 1953
in Amarillo, Texas, Ginger felt as a child the hunger to record what she
saw and knew at a very early age, the brush and the canvas would be her
means. Although she was in her late twenties before she was able
to obtain a formal art education, she followed her heroes until the time
she was able to study under them in a formal setting. She searched
out the greats such as Daniel Greene, Matt Smith, Kevin MacPherson &
Michael Albrechtson and knew each time she attended their classes she
was not alone in her quest for perfection. Her hunger for knowledge
and better techniques continues and it is evident as you follow her work.
With each piece of art, she shows her generous nature
by baring her soul. In her studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, she delights
in setting up the subjects of her next still life painting. While
she ponders, she mischievously adds a hidden meaning to each piece thus
expressing the playful sense of humor of which she is known.
An award winning piece, “The Lawyer and the Songbird” depicts
bird books, feathers, musical score, eggs, and more. When asked
about the “lawyer” part of the title, she responds with a
twinkle, “look at the snake slithering in the background.”
Another painting, “The Boys” includes various
male symbols, Raggedy Andy, Buddha, an African warrior, a cowboy, an Indian,
a bull chasing a wooden manikin and, of course, a dog holding a large
screw.
While she loves the studio, she has traveled to many
areas in the US and Europe with a goal of sharing with others the beauty
of the land. Whether it is the desert of Arizona, an old hacienda
in Taos, the flowers of Texas in the spring, the palm trees of Hawaii
during a storm or the beauty of Rome and Florence, Italy, she is at peace
only when she has “ moved it ” to the canvas.
