| After twenty five years in advertising as an award winning Art Director and Creative Supervisor, Ms. Gibbs returned to her first artistic passion: portraiture. Her art studies began at the age of 15 at the Art Students League of New York. Just one year later, while a student of painting with Jean Liberte, she was published in the Art Students League Catalogue. Her pursuit of a Fine Arts Degree led her to studies at DePauw University, Hunter College and the School of Visual Arts. The next public appearance of her work was Off Broadway. Two portraits in oil of Dustin Hoffman were commissioned for the production of "Journey of the Fifth Horse" staged at the American Place Theater. Recognition of her work continues. In 2001, Ms. Gibbs had pastels and oils accepted into the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Annual at the National Arts Club, the Grand National Exhibition of the American Artists Professional League, the Allied Artists of America Annual Open Exhibition and was published in Intemational Artist Magazine as an award winning member of the Salmagundi Art Club. Ms. Gibbs' paintings can be seen regularly at the Salmagundi Art Club member auctions and exhibitions. Since studying with pastellists Americo DeFranza and Richard Pionk, painter Frank Mason and watercolorist Irwin Greenberg, Ms. Gibbs has received numerous awards for her pastel, oil and watercolor portraits. These awards have all come from juried competitions. Ms. Gibbs is a life member of the Art Students League, an associate member of the Pastel Society of America and Allied Artists of America. She is an elected artist member of the American Artist Professional League, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and the Salmagundi Art Club, the oldest professional art club in the United States. Ms. Gibbs' work is in private collections in New York, Florida and Paris.
