Our President's Message

The time is soon approaching for our 113th Annual Juried Exhibition at The National Arts Club in New York, and the volunteers and directors have been tirelessly putting everything in place to make this years show a success.

New to the show this year is the “Board Of Directors Award”. This award, funded personally by the members of the board, is to be awarded to an outstanding work by an exhibiting artist. This is a prestigious new award that will add new excitement to our annual show for years to come.  We will also be adding credit card acceptance for the purchase of art during the show. The hope is to make it more convenient for patrons to purchase our artwork.  If all goes well, we will be able to bring that convenience to other parts of our organization.

After being inspired by the very informative speaker at our annual luncheon this year, Mr Stephen Doherty, Editor-In-Chief of American Artist Magazine, we have a new Facebook presents. Mr Doherty spoke about the many new means with which artist are getting themselves and their artwork seen by patrons, galleries and contemporaries in the internet age. Facebook was one of the networking sights he most favored. Many of our members have already joined our facebook group and are participating in helpful professional discussions, posting show announcements and networking with other artists on this sight. I was pleased to see so many of our members taking advantage of these new marketing tools.

With so many new and exciting things around the corner for our club, it is important that members consider volunteering to help us move forward into the future. Consider joining the board of directors or contributing your knowledge and talents from home.  Because we are a national organization, we have many talented people across the country that may be able to help us. I need people with good computer skills for various tasks, someone to update, submit and act as contact person for our show advertising as well as assistants to our show chair people. Many of these positions can be done from your home. Please call or email me if you are interested in taking an active role in our organization. I am looking forward to this up coming year as your new President, and I hope I will be able to meet many of you at the Preview reception in October.
